A thorough movement assessment can identify factors which may lead to several common complaints in the dancer. For example, a lack of motion or control of movement around the hip, has been shown to be a factor in knee pain. This control maybe even more significant when coupled with hypermobility. The alignment of the foot, knee and hip may be a significant factor in dancers performing hundreds of plie daily.
Through 3D motion analysis of movements such as the plie, coupled with strength assessments of the muscles around the hip and knee in our 4D lab, weaknesses and imbalances can be identified and a program of strengthening and control can be implemented.
